
Raw Jack-fruits {formerly known as Achor (এঁচোড়)} is one of the most favorite fruit for Bengali peoples. They like foods cooked with this. So here, I'm going to share with you another cuisine made with Raw Jack-fruit with has been combined with Daal, and it is suitable to serve with Steamed Rice, Paratha, Roti & Naan.
Ingredients:
=> 250 g of Raw Jack-Fruits
=> 100 g pf Chola Daal
=> 1 cup of Onions (chopped)
=> ½ cup of Tomatoes (chopped)
=> Salt to taste
=> 2 nos of Bay Leaves
=> 1 tsp of Red Chili Powder
=> ½ tsp of Turmeric Powder
=> 1 tsp of Ginger Paste
=> ½ tsp of Coriander Powder
=> 2 nos of Dried Red Chili
=> 1 tsp of Panch Foron*
=> ½ tsp of Hing
=> 1 tsp of Ghee
=> Water as required
Preparation:
= Wash the Daal properly. Heat water to a pot & boil the Daal with some salt & ¼ tsp of Turmeric.** Keep aside.
= Heat oil to a frying pan. Add the Jack-fruits and fry them until tender. Keep them in a pot.
= Add the Onions, Tomatoes, Salt and Bay Leaves into the same oil. Cook them well. Now add Red Chili & Turmeric Powder, cook for a while. Add Ginger Powder & Coriander. Add some water & cook it until all the spices gets well-cooked.
= Now add the previously fried Jack-fruits & cook again for a while. Add the boiled Daal & some water & let it boil.
= Prepare the Foron*** by heating oil into a pan & adding Dried Red Chili & Panch Foron into the oil. When aroma comes out, add Hing & fry for a while. Add these foron to the boiling daal.
= Now add the Ghee into the daal & cook for about a min. Transfer the daal into a serving dish. Garnish with chopped parsley.
= It's ready to be served!

** Keep in mind that the Daal don't boil too much or gets mashed.
